In the digital age, children are exposed to the culture of materialism and instant gratification more than any other time in the history. Christeen acknowledges and understands well the challenge small children faces in the social media-driven culture. The parents of these young children also may not have the depth of knowledge to address the new challenges nor there are enough experience resources to guide them in this fast-changing world.

Christeen, therefore, designed “Angels Retreats” for children below eight and their parents. The primary goal is to introduce Jesus into their lives and increase curiosity about the love of God. Nurturing this theme at an early age will help them to accept and absorb the spiritual practices and its importance. Making their parents engaged and inspired to get involved in the early ages of the child assures sustainable spiritual development of little children. Imparting an appropriate amount of discipline and the daily routine is extremely important.

These days children are extremely sensitive and are aware of what is happening around them. Hence a faith-based disciplining is very important and, a measured, but forceful, communication is very important. Parenting in the old style with authoritative methods have an adverse effect. 

Proverbs 22:15 says “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from them”. Angels Retreat uses songs, stories, sharing, action songs, and dramas to instill basic character-forming methodologies. Parents are given separate retreat simultaneously to guide them on how to navigate their parenting deeply rooted in Christian values.

It is designed as a prayer-study- training programme for parents to help them grow in Jesus experience and make children also grow in that experience. Some of the topics dealt include, but not limited to, family holiness, prayer, dealing with problem children, soft discipline, exercising restraint, educating on boundaries of media exposure, early education in religious values. They attend the mass, adoration, praise and worship together. The retreat strengthens the bond between parents and children and together they can build a holy family anchored in Christian values.
